The protestors threatened to “call the police” as the decorations Julie had used were inherently against Divine orders. This angered Baker to the extent that the woman decided to make the house “gayer” just to show the neighbors that such kind of hate was intolerable. Julie Baker’s statement regarding the entire incident was premised on speaking up and ensuring a safer environment for Baker’s own family.

Law enforcement agencies are trained not to discriminate and to provide protection to anyone experiencing ostracism in a neighborhood. The extent of this protection varies with the kind of violence or tension the victim is facing. Furthermore, the detectives also advise people to take court action where neighbors were becoming a handful. Courts have generally been known to be strict in such cases; this is often so that any claim being brought to court regarding neighborhood dispute goes in favor of the victim. Detectives at Glasgow suggest that victims must not take any action separately because that could result in either false accusations or an aggravated dispute that would be harder to resolve. It is, therefore, suggested that immoral neighbors be dealt with smartly to prevent any sort of larger dispute that would be harder to handle for the shunned individual. However, it would also help if victims sought the help of detectives to investigate further regarding the matter.
