Ipad iOS5 Means Better Experience with Mavenlive Exercise Prescription Software

PressMediaWire.com (Press Release Distribution) – Dec 02,2011 –

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA – Apple’s release on Oct. 12 of the new iOS 5 operating system for the iPad translates to increased functionality of Prognition Corporation’s Mavenlive exercise prescription software.

The iOS update solves a significant limitation when using the rehabilitation exercise software on the iPad, says Dr. Jay Winburn, Mavenlive’s president.

The physical therapist software that integrates seamlessly with other physical therapy billing software, uses a “rich text editor,” which closely resembles Microsoft Word, but renders in the Web browser so users can perform tasks such as formatting text. This means users can create bold or italicized font, change font sizes and make alignment adjustments, just to name some examples, says Metcalfe, vice president of technical development for Mavenlive.

Mavenlive’s rich text editor would not render on the iPad prior to the upgrade, which prevented software users from completing their correspondence letters on the iPad, Metcalfe says. They had to revert to a traditional computer or laptop to get their letters produced. Since the new operating system allows the editor to render, physical therapists and other clinicians can use the iPad for all of their documentation and letter-writing needs. Now the iPad is the perfect device to use in conjunction with Mavenlive.

“This is news that physical therapists that use Mavenlive are happy to hear about because it’s going to make it quicker for them to generate letters to referring doctors,” Metcalfe says. “We have been anxious to let our current users know about this improvement, because lots of our users work with iPads, but have been frustrated that the editor does not render.”

Mavenlive is a time-saving, useful tool when used on an iPad, and iOS 5 makes that  statement doubly true now, Winburn says. This current upgrade will allow for a richer user experience for physical therapists.
