Linda Walker, Buckeye Firearms Association’s Central Ohio Chair, is campaigning for election to the National Rifle Association’s Board of Directors. Ballots have been distributed to the NRA’s four million members throughout the United States, and are due back to the organization by April 10, 2011.
As a member of the NRA’s Board of Directors, Walker has promised NRA members that she would fight the encroachment of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on the lawful use of firearms, “stop foolish registration schemes, encourage youth and women to participate in hunting and shooting sports, and do everything in my power to prevent the erosion our God-given rights.”
The National Rifle Association’s mission is to uphold Second Amendment rights and to advocate enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The NRA is the leading firearm education and training advocate for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the military. The NRA honored Walker in 2009 with the “Sybil Ludington Women’s Freedom Award,” the highest honor given to one woman each year for Second Amendment legislation, advocacy, and education.
Walker, a resident of Alexandria, OH, has served on the Buckeye Firearms Association’s leadership team since 2005, representing the BFA in front of the Ohio legislature, as well as Second Amendment events such as firearms training events, expos and gun shows. Walker has directly assisted in the passage of legislation establishing Castle Doctrine in Ohio, statewide preemption of local gun bans, and historic reformations of concealed carry laws.
A Life Member of the NRA, Walker is an NRA-certified firearms instructor, and has personally certified over 1,000 Ohioans in safe, responsible gun handling and concealed carry in the four years since the Ohio concealed carry permit was made available.
“I am neither a celebrity nor a wealthy politician,” says Walker. “I am a simple American who has dedicated her life to restoring the hopes and dreams of the Founding Fathers. I have fought in the trenches of legislation, educated citizens in basic self-defense, and tried my best to uphold the values of our Constitution.”
